I just finished an art filled weekend with my sister from California. She came east to see my two solo shows. One at Ceres Gallery 547 W. 27th Street, NYC and the other at the Hoboken Historical Museum in Hoboken, NJ
It was very moving to share my work with her because so much of it is inspired by childhood memories of dolls that she and I shared.
We spent a long time at each show because each piece she looked at evoked a shared memory. We just had a wonderful time talking and reminiscing.
Dolls and fetish figures are invested with so much feeling and creative force. I dream of mounting a huge show of doll makers whose sculpture evokes their past, their inner imagination and the cross cultural connection that dolls convey.
